Cummins Science Pub is going on a road trip to Pt. Lincoln to join the inaugural SALT festival. We will be hosting a PechaKucha Night featuring everyday science on Eyre Peninsula. PechaKucha nights are a worldwide phenomenon where people share their work or passion using 20 slides (images) for 20 seconds each. The areas of everyday science we would like to showcase are aquaculture, agriculture, food, beverage, research & development and nature.
Guest speakers confirmed for Science Pub:
Food – Michael Agnew (5 Loaves Bakery): The science of artisan bread baking.
Beverage – Mark & Janie Butterworth (Beer Garden Brewing): The science of beer brewing.
Aquaculture – Kirsten Rough (Southern Bluefin Tuna Association): Short-term ocean forecasting in predicting tuna migration.
Nature – Dr Greg Kerr (Natural Resource Management): Citizen science helping with monitoring and research of Eyre Peninsula’s natural environment.
Come along for a Science Speed Date and find out about locals engaged in everyday science from artisan baking, beer brewing, seafood industry and bird watching!
