“THROUGH MY EYES – 52 WEEKS ON THE COAST” by MATTHEW DODD
It is hard to get a break in today’s world. Bills seem to increase with age and the ever-present expectation of what you should be doing in your life is sometimes overbearing. You will find relaxation and perspective in the outdoors and those worries become such trivial things.
My entire reason for doing this project was that I wanted to show people that they do not have to spend thousands of dollars travelling abroad when they can travel within an hour and a half of Port Lincoln and see some of the most unique landscapes that the world has to offer for free. I want people to get up, get active and enjoy our region for all it has to offer because the older I get, the more I understand just how special it is.
I use a tripod and remote to take a lot of my images and use my silhouette to give a sense of scale to the photograph. I want the viewers to not just see the outline of the person in the photo, but to imagine themselves in it and to eventually become that silhouette.
Nothing makes me happier than when I am walking the coast with my camera in hand. I am beyond stoked to be able to exhibit the photographs I have taken over the last 12 months as part of this years SALT Festival. My exhibition will be showcased at the newly opened Line and Label Restaurant, on Sunday the 22nd of April from 1-4pm, with fellow photographer Gabrielle Waters. ~PLEASE RSVP HERE~
Limited prints of the entire 52 weeks project will be available for purchase from the start of SALT onwards.
