“Tree of Knowledge – Books are life!” PRESENTED BY THE PORT LINCOLN LIBRARY

Port Lincoln Library

The Port Lincoln Library joins in the SALT Festival 2018 with the community art installation “Tree of Knowledge”

Trees give life and books enrich our lives!  The Port Lincoln Library invites you to add your leaf to the tree of life: share an insight from a book that has had a marked impact on your life, it could be a quote from the book, a comment, an illustration or a blurb about a book that has stayed with you.

Library users and all community members are invited to contribute to “The Tree of Knowledge” by selecting a “book leaf” and writing or drawing something that represents a book that they love, have learnt from or has inspired them— a favourite author, special childhood story, nursery rhymes, text, poetry, quotations…anything pertaining to books that have enriched your life long learning experience.

Concept: a bare branch tree will have “branches of knowledge” that will grow with book leaves as they are progressively added to help the tree to grow!  Leaves will be available from the Library – design your own or select from the collection, complete while in the Library or take home to work on and return during the week of the SALT festival.  Your contribution will help to create this unique and “living” art installation, representing the knowledge of our community.

Join in the official launch Friday 20 April @ 2.30pm refreshments provided – all welcome!
