This Moment – SALT Festival Feature Exhibition Submission

Calling artists aged 12-26 living on the Southern Eyre Peninsula. See your work in this year’s SALT Festival Feature Exhibition.  SALT Festival is calling all Southern Eyre Peninsula based artists aged 12-26, to express interest in having work displayed in this year’s SALT Festival Feature Exhibition – This Moment. Selected artists will be invited to create work in any creative medium of their choosing responding to the exhibition theme in a creative way.

Artists will be selected from this expression of interest. Expressions of interest are due by 5pm, Thursday 27th March 2025. Artists will be notified of the outcome via email on the 3rd April 2025.

How to submit your interest

Use the form below and provide:
– 1 to 3 example(s) of recent artwork
-Up to 150 word explanation of what the exhibition theme – This moment, a snapshot of the world through the eyes of our young people –  means to you and how the themes inspire you. This doesn’t have to explain the work you end up submitting if  selected but should tell us about themes and ideas that interest you or feel important to you at this moment in time. 

NOTE: you do not need to submit a finished or newly created work. If selected you will have until April 14 to create an artwork in response to the exhibition theme. Samples provided will be used solely by the exhibition team to curate an interesting mix of mediums, styles and themes.  

Selected artists will:

• have six weeks to create and submit their final piece in a format that is ready to hang (final pieces are due 14th April 2025).
• have their work displayed for the duration of the festival as part of the SALT Festival 2025 Feature Exhibition – This Moment.
• be listed as a SALT Festival feature artist
• be given the opportunity to list their featured work for sale during the exhibition if desired. 

SALT Festival will:

• Hang all artwork in the gallery space
• Create a program of artworks featuring all selected artists and their work
• provide moral support and additional feedback to all selected artists if required.

Selection Criteria:

1. Artists must be aged 12-26 on 18th April 2025.
2. Artists must currently live on the Southern Eyre Peninsula
3. The exhibition will be curated by the SALT Festival team who will be looking for interesting interpretations to the themes and innovative use of materials.
4. Expressions of interest will be assessed in line with the SALT Festival values of art, creativity, innovation and culture. SALT Festival celebrates diversity, community and togetherness in all that we do. 
5. Selected artists will respond to the exhibition provocation using their preferred medium. 
6. We are looking for a range of ages, experience levels, locations and backgrounds.
7. We are looking for a range of responses and themes, consider what this moment is to you.
